Tour: Ecuador's Amazon, Galapagos & Mainland Odyssey

[Back to Eco Tours]

Travel into the jungle, the Amazon jungle. Rich, thick, and lush. The destination is Kapawi Ecolodge, often called, ?Ecuador?s closest approach to the perfect ecolodge,? located right on the Kapawi Lagoon, it?s easy to see why. Built by the Achuar nationals using traditional building techniques, this ecolodge uses low-impact technologies like solar power, biodegradable soap, and electric outboard motors to its guests comfortable and the Earth happy. Kapawi Ecolodge will be your home for the beginning days in Ecuador on this trip. The simple daily routine does not in any way detract. Days start early so all the activities can be checked off your list. Then, move from the terrestrial to the riparian--hike the winding rainforest trails then ease into the afternoon with a some kayaking on the river. Quito will be the hub of the trip and all excursions will radiate from this lively city center. Tour the old and the new cities. The world?s second highest capital (after La Paz, Bolivia) mixes old world charm with cosmopolitan appeal. The labyrinth of colonial cobbled streets runs into the new--where commerce and bustling city plaza congregate. Tucked into the Andean volcano Pichincha, Quito temperate climates is ideal for strolling and people-watching. From the landlocked capital, the soft island breezes of the Galapagos come into view. Giant tortoises, marine iguanas and the mighty albatross all make their home here. Round out your stay cruising these mystical islands off Ecuador?s coast.
