The term ecolodge is an industry label used to identify a nature-dependent tourist lodge that meets the philosophy and principles of ecotourism. At a purist level an ecolodge will offer a tourist an educational and participatory experience.

The ecolodges in our network range in location from rainforests to oceans—in accommodation from rustic to luxurious— in size from 1 acre to thousands and from an intimate 20 person capacity to room for dozens—but one thing that does not vary is their unyeilding commitment to the environment. These lodgeowners specialize in sustainable, responsible tourism, which is ensured by passing our EcoAssessment and signing our Responsible Tourism Pledge.

Just as you can rest assured that the lodge you choose will responsibly handle its wastewater, so too can you be assured they will provide you with the experience of a lifetime. Their commitment to you and your enjoyment is just as strong as their commitment to the environment.
